This week it was my pleasure to take part in a Q/A with the guys who run the vNews Podcast. You might recall before I joined VMware in 2012, I used to co-host the podcast with Stu McHugh. I moved on because I felt it should be run by folks who were vendor-neutral.
So this episode is all about EVO:RAIL – and guys asked some really great questions – really great one’s I’d not had before which is always more interesting.
In this weeks show myself and Eric chew the fat over the slue of announcements at last weeks VMworld. I dunno, but in this modern era’s taste of “Apple” style big-vision announcements – I occasionally feel the meat and potatoes is lost amongst everything be liquid, brave and having No Limits [You had to be there!]. For me the top news along side EVO:RAIL was how vCloud Automation Center was going to be “put on the internet” or what people say – made as SaaS based offering in the Cloud. Somehow I feel “put on the internet” is easier for Common People to understand. The thing is going to badged as “vCloud Automation Air”. Yeah, I could relate Air to vRealise and how things are liquid. But I won’t bother…
Anyway, if you want a round-up of VMworld click no futher!
This week VMTN Communities Podcast with John “Mark” Troyer (and me as his infrequent co-host and raconteur) is all about… VMworld and the various parties that are going on there – and also we have the PMM from the SocialCast team. We talk about what socialcast is and it can (cannot do) for your business.
Since joining VMware last year its been my great privilege to play the role of co-host to John “Mark” Troyer on his VMTN Communities Podcast. It occured to me this morning that I could be doing more to promote his podcast through my blog. So I’m going to start doing a blogpost to promote this weeks show.
Firstly, some basics. The show is a live dial-in show, and you can call in and ask questions. It’s hosted on the TalkShoe platform. It’s not greatest platform in the world, but its the best that’s been found so far. If you just want to listen (and not talk) the web-page will stream it to your browser. If you want to ask a question I would (if your outside the US) use an VOIP service like Skype to dial in. The phone number listed is US +1 number, and TalkShoe doesn’t offer a range of region specific dial ins.
This week we talked briefly about the concept of “IT Zombie Apocolypse” the idea that somehow folks who work in enteprize IT are going to experience a career melt down as all our jobs get outsourced to the cloud. It’s not a concept I have great deal of time for, and seems like a snappy media ready term design to drive hits to articles.
We also have the folks from the vCHS and vCAT Teams talking about our new cloud offering, and an update to the vCAT kit – which is essential reading if your building a vCloud Director based multi-tenancy /service provider cloud platform.
